Can't get cell reception in most of building & reported to desk as an FYI (I'm sure they've heard this before) who wanted to know my cell company? I talked with multiple people staying there at the same time & everyone had problems and had different companies. Some people were lucky enough to be able to talk on their phones if they sat in front of their windows and were on the front side of the hotel. Most of us had to use the lobby or stand outside. Internet didn't work most of the time in the evenings. Not sure if too many people were trying to use at the same time? When trying to talk on the phone in the lobby at night, hard time hearing because men above on the balcony area were loud as they were drinking & playing cards. Staff seemed oblivious to it. Person I was travelling with didn't have heat in her room and and as the last time I stayed, parts of hot tub in room (knobs) were broken off. The best thing I can say about the hotel is that my room was clean and that check in & check out were fast & easy. « less

We have a mini family get away a few times a year, we stay in town but the kids get to swim,and I always look forward to the hot tub.i had reconstructive knee surgery, so I enjoy relaxing in a nice hot tub. Upon checking in, which took forever because the person didn't know how, we went to our room.It was clean but shabby.The counter in the kitchenette was taped, yes,taped together. The dresser in the bedroom was chipped and kinda rickety. But we were ok with that. We went down to the pool area, and went in the hot tub. It was cold,not cool or Luke warm but cold,my wife went to the front desk to complain. The manager came down but didn't have the correct key to access the matinance room.She said she had to go look for it,she never came back,so again my wife went back to the front desk,at which time she was told the reason the hot tub was cold,was from the pool water running into it, which we knew wasn't true,because we have stayed at this location before and It's never been like that. So disgusted, we went to our room, after stewing a bit, again we went back to the front desk,the manager or assistant manager whom we had dealt with was gone. A young man, who was a nice as could be, offered to switch our room to a hot tub room, so we had to repack and move all our stuff up to the 3rd floor. Problem solved,NOPE, the hot tub in our room didn't work right and our bed went from a king to the worlds smallest queen. I am 6'3 340lbs, not a great nights sleep. We went back down to swim,but to our surprise, there was a birthday party with about 25 8 and 9 year old boys. ZERO supervision , we were hit with balls and squirted with water non stop to the point we gave up and spent the entire night in the room,which broke my 8 year old daughters heart, I understand birthday parties make money for the hotel, but it shouldn't take away from the experience of other guests. If I was a weary traveler look to relax by the pool, you can forget it. This isn't the first time we've had a poor stay at this hotel, perhaps we will have to consider finding a new hotel to stay at. We also ran out of towels and were offered a excuse of being understaffed, and we were told the actual manager is never there to deal with any problems,upon checking out we were told,the hot tub by the pool wasn't broken, it was turned down because of the birthday party and they didn't want the kids to get burned,wether that's true or not I don't know, but we got several different excuses. « less

We stayed at the Hawthorn on a Friday night with one simple goal: To just simply be anywhere but home to relax and enjoy eachother's company. We stayed with one other couple in seperate rooms. To my surprise we both had Jacuzzi suites and were still able to have rooms next to eachother. We had many plans of going out on the town. We started with dinner, which Vicki was very helpfull in printing out menus for us to choose from. While we were out to dinner we began contemplating our night and still planned on going to some of the bars our friends and family had told us about. The plan was to get a taxi from the hotel so after dinner we came back to drop the car off. It was then that we all decided we liked this hotel so much that we were just going to stay there do some swimming and hang out in our rooms. The whole staff was very accomodating. The girl who checked us in was so nice and bubbly, she really seemed to enjoy her job. The night clerk was right there when we needed anything. The manager was so nice and helpfull. We have already begun planning our next trip and this time we definitely need 2 nights. 1 just isn't enough.I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. If your coming in on business, you will certainly enjoy the quiet comfortable rooms and quick access to the highway. If your a couple planning a romantic getaway, the jacuzzi suites are just beautiful. Plus they have the Vintage resturaunt right off the lobby and a really nice bar. If you have kids they will love the pool. There's a slide going into the kiddie pool, little water fountains and a thing that spins and shoots water. For the grown ups there is a Jacuzzi conveniently attached to the heated pool so you can relax while being able to keep a close eye on your kids. « less

Rooms were fine staff was fine. Just the pool had black mold in it and I didn't want to go swimming. The pool was also to cool for a heated pool. more »
