“Worst experience in a hotel”

  , Ellabell
I was part of a bridal party that was using the hotel for all of their guests' accomodations. Our experience was bad right off the bat. As maid of honor, I was to stay in the bridal suite with the bride the night before the wedding, so I went to check in with her prior to the rehearsal. She and her husband to be has reserved one of the larger suites with a king bed and jacuzzi tub for their wedding night. When we walked in, we found a dingy suite with 2 queen beds and regular shower. We immediately called to have this fixed and were told they were unsure if they would be able to due to the hotel being fully booked! This was their wedding night for goodness sake! After the mother of the bride called and spoke with the manager, and asked to call corporate, they moved to a different suite. It was still smaller than the original reservation, but they did try to make up for it with an apology letter, a gift certificate, and a bottle of wine. That was the nicest thing to happen all weekend! The next day, my fiance was to arrive at the hotel around 3pm. I was at the venue for the wedding with absolutely no cell phone service when he arrived. Upon check in, he had to wait in the lobby for more than 30 minutes because the front desk had given our room away. We had booked this room 3 weeks in advance! When they finally found us a room, it was not the room we had originally booked (king suite)...Instead we got a double queen room, which was a disappointment. Finally, upon checkout on Sunday morning, I was charged the wrong rate. Being part of the wedding group, they had offered a discounted rate of $69/night. I was charged over $100. The desk attendant did her best to change the rate, but my credit card has still been charged $125, which wasn't even the going rate for the weekend. All in all, I feel like this hotel is lacking quite a bit overall. I feel like if you are trying to be a "resort" facility, you should do a much better job keeping your customers happy, rather than overbooking and downgrading rooms. Also, the whole hotel felt damp and dingy. The check out clerk on Sunday was helpful and an overnight clerk by the name of Charlie was awesome to the bridal suite as well. Everyone else needs to take a few extra courses on customer service.
