“Noisy Stay”

  , Omaha
The hotel was recently renovated, but the lobby is pretty much nonexistent. There are no automatic entrance doors, so you must struggle to keep the doors open while bringing in your luggage. While the rooms look nice and have a kitchenette, the walls are extremely thin, which made for a pretty noisy stay. I could hear the amorous couple next door, along with the footsteps of the guest in the room above mine. Additionally, every evening when I returned to my room, I would hear a loud, shrill whistle that I couldn't drown out even when I turned up the volume on the television. The staff initially thought the noise was the boiler, which also made a loud sound when it kicked on every 10-15 minutes. After further investigation, they found the noise was actually coming from the dryer, which was located directly beneath my room. They agreed to not run the dryer in the evening after I had returned to my room. That worked fine until Saturday, my checkout day. I had an afternoon flight and wouldn't check out until around 1 p.m. Beginning at about 9 a.m., the shrill whistle started again. After listening to the irritating noise for a couple of hours, I called the front desk and asked if they could wait until I checked out to run the dryer. The guy I spoke to said they had already tried to accommodate me by not running the dryer at night but could not grant me a quiet, last few hours because they had a lot of laundry. Needless to say, this did not make me very happy. Call me selfish, but I felt I should have quiet during my entire stay. It's not like they were giving me this room free of charge to make up for the noise. There was a free continental breakfast served. I went down on several days to grab a couple of bananas but always left empty-handed. The bananas were always bruised and looked as though they had been banged around in a backpack all day. This was definitely a low-budget hotel and one I definitely would not return to if given a choice.
