“nice room but !!!!!”

  , Rome
The hotel was nice and the room was nice but the experience was not. I was told when I made the reservations with Wyndham that I had a suite with a full refrigerator, bed and a sofa bed. When I checked in a blond at the front desk was very nasty and told me I had the cheapest room in the hotel and no way I would get what I said I wanted. I had not paid for it. I was there for three nights but my husband and my Mother were there for a wedding and on Saturday night we had to get my mother a room at another hotel. My husband refused to get one there because the lady was so nasty to me. I even asked if I could pay more and get what I wanted. She refused and told me that if I wanted cheap I should have gone elsewhere. They also did not provide a bell man for me. I have parkinson's and my friend who was helping me check in had to haul in several heavy boxes of wedding things to the room when I checked in. Also when we checked out on Sunday morning the "do not disturb" sign was still on the door about 10 am. The maid knocked on the door to asked if we were leaving. This is not the first time this has happened. Since when do maids ignore the "Do not disturb" sign. We were out by 11 am. The time of our check out. There was no need for us to be disturbed. Someone also called one evening to inform me that I had overflowed the tub. I had taken a bath but If the tub overflowed it was through the overflow drain and not over the tub itself. I was informed water was dripping through the ceiling of the room below and not to do that. I work in housing. As in I have a college degree in design. They need to connect the drain and not expect people not to overflow the water into a drain which is not connected as it should be. The hotel itself was very nice. Several of the people at the desk and maids were very nice to me, and my husband. But I will not be back. I have traveled all over the world and it is a sham that one of the worst experiences I have had in a hotel was in my beloved SOUTH. I love hotels with charm and elegance. That is why I picked the Hawthorn Suites because of its charm. But they need lessons in how to treat there guests. After all here in the South, you do not know who you might be talking to. The lady in jeans and a too big T-shirt, who had been working on flower arrangements for a wedding all day, just might be someone who speaks fluent french and is not the redneck you suspect.
