“Nearly Met Expectations”

I knew what to expect, since I stayed here when it was Candlewood Suites. Convenient, reasonably clean and priced right. The fact that there is smoking on some floors makes it a bit stinky in the halls, but my non-smoking room was OK.But be aware that there are few amenities outside of the kitchenette and refrigerator, and the service level is adequate but not great. For instance, the bathroom came with 2 small bars of soap and nothing else (no shampoo, etc.). Also, there is no daily maid service. Instead housekeeping comes only after 5 days if you are staying for an extended period. Of course, if you stay for only one night as I did, this last issue won;t affect you.I was irritated that the promised "breakfast" was, I kid you not, some prepackaged muffins and nothing else. No juice, no fruit, no cereal, no milk...nothing. When I asked the front desk, they (somewhat) cheerfully informed me that they had run out of additional breakfast items a couple of days ago. Not an apology, not an offer of any sort of accommodation, just a statement of fact. Hmmm...One last gripe: I also give them points off for the poor choice of television stations. Who would think that one could stay in a hotel located in Connecticut and NOT be able to view a Yankee/Red Sox game? Neither of the teams' networks were available and, of course, ESPN had the game blacked out in this area. Weak sauce!Still, it was an uninfested place to sleep for less than $80, so I was pretty much satisfied. If you chose to stay here, make sure you bring all your own toiletries and plan to hit the diner across the street for breakfast.
