“Not up to Wyndham standard”

This hotel needs a complete renovation. It is old and looks it. Attempts to cover up problems with paint don't work, especially if paint smears are left behind on light switches and baseboards. We had a shower problem on the second day of a four-day stay. The maid apparently leaned on the faucet and broke it away from the wall. We came back at the end of the day to water running (running, not dripping) in the tub. The drain plug had been taken out so it wouldn't overflow. We reported it and the mainenance man came to fix it. He said it needed a part and managed to stop the water, saying he would fix it the next day. It never got fixed, even when we reported it again.Other problems with the room: the sofa bed was the only place to sit except for the straight chairs at the table, and it was too uncomfortable to sit on. We dragged a chair out from the bedroom, leaving no place in the bedroom to sit. The carpet was desparately in need of cleaning, it felt gritty to the bare feet. The undercounter refrigerator in the kitchenette had obviously broken some time ago and a full-size, old and very noisy refrigerator stood in the room next to the sofa.Other problems:Althought the breakfast items were varied, they were never hot. Cold scrambled eggs and sausage or cold pancakes are not very appetizing. People were putting the pancakes or waffles through the toaster to warm them before eating.The available computers were set with limitations on downloading PDFs so the printers didn't work when we tried to print our boarding passes for our outgoing flight. We had to ask the desk clerk to print them from the main hotel computer.The desk staff were very friendly and efficient, but the rest of the staff could use some training in maintenance and cleaning procedures.Having stayed at other Wyndham properties and also other Hawthorn Suites in other cities, we can assure you that this property is definitely not the norm.
