All Hawthorn Suites hotels have accessible parking available, indicated with the international symbol of accessibility.
All Hawthorn Suites hotels have a minimum of one (1) van-accessible parking space a minimum of 8' wide with 5' stripped access aisle and have minimum of 98" clearance.
All Hawthorn Suites hotels have a curb cut conveniently located to allow a person who may use a wheelchair to get into the hotel lobby.
Most Hawthorn Suites front desks can accommodate a traveler with mobility impairment by offering a slide-out counter or lowered counter area. In some cases, our Guest Service Agent may come around the front desk in order to best serve our mobility-impaired guests.
All Hawthorn Suites hotels offer a FREE daily hot breakfast buffet and Wednesday social hour which is available in the lobby area. In order to ensure you have a pleasant experience, be sure and let our Guest Service Agents know if you need assistance.
All Hawthorn Suites hotels offer a public restroom that is wheelchair accessible. These restrooms feature raised toilets to 17-19", grab bars, lowered soap and towel holders, as well as covered sink pipes. One can easily operate the sink controls with a closed fist. Each bathroom offers a 5' clear turning space.
All guest suite signage and permanent directional signage has raised Braille lettering.
If a Hawthorn Suites hotel has an elevator, it comes equipped with Braille floor numbers and emits a sound at each level, indicating the level.

Every Hawthorn Suites hotel has a minimum of one (1) Hearing-Impaired Kit available at the front desk. At a minimum each kit includes:
- One TDD machine for hearing and verbally impaired guests.
- One telephone alert mechanism that flashes when the phone rings.
- One door knock alert that translates vibrating knocks on door into a flashing light.
- One wake-up system that includes a special alarm clock and pillow/bed vibrator system.
Accessible Guest Suite Features
All accessible guest suites offer two (2) peepholes on each door. One is located 48" above the floor, for our travelers who may use a wheelchair. In addition, all the door locks on guestroom doors are located no higher than 48" above the floor.
All Hawthorn Suites hotels feature electronic door locks and door handles that can be operated with a closed fist.
All accessible suites have guestroom and guest bathroom doors that are a minimum of 36" wide. In addition, most Hawthorn Suites hotels are designed with 36" doors throughout the property, allowing our travelers with disabilities greater flexibility throughout the hotel.
All accessible guest suites have fire and smoke detector UL rated systems and meet current federal and local codes and have a minimum candela rating of 177 and an average flash time of 60-80 times a minute. In addition, the alarm horn sounds at a minimum of 85 decibels. All Hawthorn guest suites throughout the hotel have sprinkler systems.
All accessible closets have a lowered clothes bar located at 48" above the floor. Each closet comes with removable hangers. In most accessible guestrooms, the doors of the closet have been removed to allow greater flexibility.
All suites at Hawthorn Suites hotels feature a fully equipped kitchen or wet bar with a microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker as part of the amenity package. In our accessible suites, we have gone to great lengths to ensure all of these amenities are located conveniently within reach of a person who may use a wheelchair.
Guest Suite lighting: Our switches are located at 42" above the finished floor.
Beds and Frames: A heavy-duty 8" metal frame (not a solid bed base) is installed in each of our accessible guestrooms. The overall height of the bed is not greater than 23" from the floor. A minimum of 36" on each side of the bed or between double beds is provided where passage is greater than 24" long is required.
Clearance space underneath the guestroom desk measures a minimum of 27".
All televisions are equipped with closed caption for the hearing impaired and are operated by portable remote control.
All accessible guestrooms have drapery wands equipped with a ring attachment measuring 4" in diameter mounted on the lower end of the baton, allowing a person with a closed fist to open and close the drapes with ease.
Accessible Guest Suite Bathrooms
Each Hawthorn Suites hotel offers one accessible room equipped with a roll-in shower and installed bath bench or removable bath seat. All toilets located in accessible guestrooms are 17" -19" inches high and have grab bars located on the wall adjacent to the toilet and behind the toilet.
All accessible bathrooms are equipped with grab bars and hand-held shower hoses on a sliding bar and a transfer bench or bath bench is provided in every accessible bathroom.
Other Accessible Guest Suite Bathroom Features:
- All piping underneath sinks, are covered, preventing any burns or scrapes.
- All sink controls can be easily operated with a closed fist.
- All accessible mirrors are conveniently positioned to offer our guests the maximum in viewing.
- Guest bathrooms have a 5' diameter turning radius.
- Tower bars and shelf are mounted at 40" above the finished floor.
- Robe hooks are mounted 48" above the finished floor.
Each designated hearing-impaired guestroom has a telephone with the ability to boost the amplification up to 20. In some cases, a separate telephone attachment is used to achieve this amplification. Large dial phones are present in most accessible guestrooms.
Hawthorn Suites welcomes service animals trained to assist our guests with disabilities. There is no additional fee for service animals used by guests with disabilities.
